Onions Lifted

A bit late because we have been on holiday, and because of the wet weather they were lifted straight from the ground onto racks inside the shed.

Rain

It’s been raining all day today, which means that I didn’t get the lawn mowed but the waterbutts are now full again.

Cucumbers & Aubergines Planted Outside

Today I planted out five Cucumber plants and four Aubergine plants. These are all in pots positioned on the south west facing side of the veg. plot. This year I have widened the path that they are on so I can walk past them easier.

Peas

I picked up some Sugar Snap peas the other day. They are the first vegetables to be planted into the freshly dug over top plot. They are planted up against the chain link fence to the rear of the plot in the hope that they will climb up it.

Yet More Digging

Today I dug over the top vegetable patch. This is in preparation for planting the beans and squash I sowed a few weeks ago. I expanded it a little bit and added a retaining board where it starts sloping so that I can keep larger flatter area.

Tomatoes Flowering Early

Today I noticed that my Red Alert tomato plants were starting to flower. They are only about 12 inches high. I think this is probably too early and the recent hot dry weather is confusing them. I pinched out the flowers, I hope it was the right thing to do.

Stones

After digging over the veg. patch I rake it over and always end of with a large pile of stones, lumps of hard soil and various other bits of rubbish all mixed in with good soil. This morning I finally got around to sieving this pile and ended up with a wheel barrow full of stones and other bits of rubbish.
